The story of Alchemy England and Iron Maiden goes back to the early 1980s. The very first Iron Maiden piece created by Alchemy was based on the cover art of the band's debut album, prior to Bruce Dickinson joining. Issued under the brand name of Poker Rox, the original model was crafted as a faithful 3D rendition of Derek Riggs' iconic Eddie artwork in the form of a pin badge. These, of course, were unofficial as, at that time, the concept of official band licensing was completely unknown.

Alchemy wasn't alone in starting out producing unofficial merchandise. This was something very common in the early days of the industry, even among the biggest players. Around that time, Iron Maiden's management became more directly involved with Bravado, a recently formed company handling artists' touring, introducing a licensing department and beginning to formalise licensing agreements. Seeking approval and commissions, Alchemy approached Bravado and, working closely with Sanctuary Music, arranged to make official band jewelry under license, including for Iron Maiden. This led to the creation of a smaller pewter version of Eddie, which was also released as a pendant.

Bravado became Alchemy's very first official licensor. It was a company renowned for working with some of rock's biggest acts, including Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Rainbow, in addition to organising the annual Monsters of Rock metal-fest, which went on to become the iconic Download Festival.

In those early days, Alchemy created merchandise for many of the great bands and was often called on at short notice to deliver for major tours. As time went on, the brand's reputation grew, resulting in Alchemy becoming known as the trusted partner for official metal rock merchandise, valued for reliability, creativity and as genuine fans who had a deep understanding of the scene. Today, Alchemy creates band merchandising under the brand Alchemy Rocks, serving classic rock and metal bands, in addition to contemporary artists such as Sleep Token and Poppy.

To this day, Alchemy still plays an important role in the legacy of Iron Maiden and has now released the exclusive Iron Maiden 50th Anniversary Pendant to mark an incredible milestone.
